Accelerated Teaching Pace for Rapid Learning

With rare exception, most classes are one or two-days in length, running approximately 6 hours per day plus an hour for lunch. This accelerated learning pace is ideally suited for working professionals or individuals who are motivated to rapidly acquire new skills and knowledge they can put to use immediately.

Fun and Supportive Learning Environment

In my personal experience, the best classes are ones that provide a fun and supportive learning environment punctuated by practical, succinct information that is backed with relevent examples and/or hands-on application. Technical classes can sometimes be very dry --for some students even overwhelming-- so putting this principle into practice requires maintaining a good balance of lecture, real-world examples, and thought-provoking exercises.

Effective Balance between Lectures & Hands-on Exercises

Lecture content is kept brief and to the point, allowing enough time for students to ask whatever questions they may have. In lab classes, every effort is made to provide adequate one-on-one time with students to help them troubleshoot and make the most of the hands-on exercises provided. To ensure a consistent level of personal attention, lab class enrollments are usually limited to a maximum of 12 students.

Emphasis on Strategic and Creative Problem Solving

Hands-on exercises are designed to reinforce the knowledge acquired during the lecture portion of the class and give the student an opportunity to apply skills in a real world context. Exercises are designed as much as possible to stimulate strategic and creative problem-solving skills, and a heavy emphasis is placed on independent thinking. This approach helps the student be more productive and efficient --both in and outside of the classroom.

Content-Rich Handouts and Reference Material

Each student receives a detailed handout ranging in length from 15-50 pages (depending on the subject matter and course length). Handouts are designed to be used as reference material, including detailed examples and explanations of information covered in the class, as well as supplemental information including extensive links to pertinent online resources and recommended reference books.
